Karnataka BJP rubbishes reports over Yeddyurappa's ultimatum to central leadership

Bangalore, Feb 24 (ANI): The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Friday rubbished reports of former Karnataka Chief Minister B.S. Yeddyurappa mounting pressure on the central leadership to reconsider him for the top post by February 27.

"There is nothing like that and our national leaders have discussed with Yeddyurappaji also. So, today we are discussing about the government work and also we are discussing about the party future and other matters. That is the only major thing we are discussing here," said Karnataka Minister for Medical Education S.A. Ramdas.

"Only the high command will take the appropriate decision at the appropriate time," Ramdas added.

Meanwhile, BJP MLC Vijay Shankar echoing similar sentiments said the difference of opinion within any party is very common.

"Those issues I am not supposed to speak anything. That is not my subject. I am a party worker and whatever party says we have to stick on to it. Difference of opinion within any party it is very common. You take any party in the entire world, not only in Karnakata, not only in India, not only in BJP, rest of the other parties also difference of opinion is very common," said Shankar.

"Whenever there is a difference of opinion, there is a high command to take over such things. Definitely, they will think over and sort out the issue," he added.

When asked whether the two-day 'Chintan baithak' was cut short for one day following the rift, Shankar said: "Actually it was for two days, it is true. But ultimately when our national president had come because of his workload, we decided to stick to only one day.

Yeddyurappa met BJP President Nitin Gadkari, who is presently in Bangalore to attend the Chintan Manthan or brainstorming session beginning today.

According to certain reports, a few of Yeddyurappa's supporters have asked Gadkari to consider a come back for Yeddyurappa.

Serving an ultimatum, Yeddyurappa has set February 27 as a deadline to the party's central leadership to reinstate him as chief minister, failing which he would decide on his course of action.

Yeddyurappa, who turns 70 on February 27, has extended invitation to all his supporting legislators to attend a lunch hosted by him on that day. (ANI)
