Trinamool supporters attack, kill two CPI-M leaders in West Bengal
Kolkata, Feb.22 (ANI): Trinamool Congress activists attacked and killed two CPI-M leaders in the Dewandighi area of West Bengal's Burdwan District on Wednesday.
They were reportedly killed for supporting calls for a general strike to be held on February 28.
Former CPI-M lawmaker Pradip Tah was hacked to death. Another CPI-M leader Kamal Gayen succumbed to his injuries at Kolkata's SSKM Hospital after being transferred there from the Burdwan Medical College.
Tah and Gayen were attacked with spears, rods and lathis,Burdwan Superintendent of Police S.A.M. Mirza was quoted, as saying at an interaction with the media.
Burdwan Police said four Trinamool Congress supporters from the Mirzapur area-Choton Chakraborty, Patitpaban Tah, Suji Tah and Gopal Goswami have been arrested in connection with the incident.
A search is on for other attackers, police said. (ANI)
