Sydney, Feb 19(ANI): Australian all rounder Shane Watson could make a quicker-than-expected return in the one-day squad for the final matches of the Commonwealth Bank triangular series.
He can be selected for Australia's clash with Sri Lanka on Friday after missing whole of Test summer against New Zealand and India due to injuring his hamstring during the South Africa tour in November.
Watson returned on Friday in New South Wales's Sheffield Shield clash against Western Australia. He scored 21 while opening the batting and had a stat of 1-14 from eight overs with the ball.
Australia coach Micky Arthur said they wanted to see Watson's progress and will discuss his position on Sunday after their game against India.
"We'll sit down and discuss after (Sunday's ODI) game (against India) what to do with Shane. We wanted to see Shane play some cricket," Fox Sports quoted Arthur, as saying. If he can come through a Shield game really well, then we'll take that point to the discussion table on Monday. We want to see a fit and firing Shane Watson," he said. (ANI)
