More convictions take place in Chinese football corruption scam

Beijing, Feb 18(ANI): Corruption in football circles in China has taken a further hit with former vice president of the Chinese Football Association (CFA) Yang Yimin, being sentenced to more than 10 years in jail for accepting bribes on.

 

The Intermediate People's Court of Tieling in Liaoning Province also convicted former Qiangdao Hailifeng Club president Du Yunqi for seven years in jail.

 

The court is expected to announce verdicts on thirty-nine on Saturday, Xinhua reports.

 

Nine people, including four top referees were sentenced up to seven years in jail for bribery and match fixing by the Intermediate People's Court of Dandong in Liaoning n Thursday.

 

Among the convicted referees is the famed Lu Jun who was sentenced to five-and-a-half years in jail for accepting bribes to fix matches. (ANI)
