Karnataka CM Gowda says appointment process for ombudsman is in progress
Bangalore, Feb 15 (ANI): Karnataka Chief Minister D.V Sadananda Gowda has said the appointment process for the post of state-level ombudsman has begun in the state.
Talking to reporters here, Gowda said that his government would send letters to the concerned persons.
"I am sending letters to all the opposition leaders, chief justice of Karnataka, and the speaker and the chairman and I am requesting them to send their names within 10 days," he said.
However, Sadananda Gowda refused to make any comments on the row over the appointment of deputy state-ombudsman.
"Two Public Interest Litigation (PIL) have been filled in the High Court of Karnataka, so the matter is pending before the court and I will not comment about that. When the matter is pending before the court, if I comment anything, it will amount to subjudice," he said.
According to media reports, two litigations had been filed in a court in Karnataka seeking to quash the appointment of the retired Justice Chandrashekaraiah as the deputy state-ombudsman.
The litigants had stated that the appointment of the deputy state-ombudsman was not done in accordance to the law. (ANI)
