Congress mocks BJP over Karnataka porn film watching case
New Delhi/Bangalore, Feb 8 (ANI): Congress Party on Wednesday ridiculed the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) after three of its ministers were caught watching pornographic video clips on their mobile phone during an assembly session in Karnataka.
Reacting over the entire sequence of the incident, Telecom Minister Kapil Sibal sneered at the BJP, and said that the opposition party, which always talks about principles and morals, should keep an eye over their leaders.
"Now a days, some of these BJP (Karnataka state ruling Bharatiya Janata Party) people have all kinds of entertainment. Sometimes, it's political entertainment; sometimes, it's entertainment of another source.... I don't want to use any harsh words," Sibal told mediapersons here.
"I think that, see when the BJP waxes eloquent on issues of morality, if they really look at their own members of legislative assembly, they will find the answers there," he added.
Karnataka Chief Minister D V Sadananda Gowda, however, reacting over the demand of some opposition leaders for the suspension of the three tainted ministers from the party stated that BJP does not require mercy of its opposition parties.
"Just because today media and the public and even opposition (Congress party) are shouting at us (BJP), so we (the three tainted ministers who were caught watching obscene videos during assembly proceedings) don't want that the opposition embarrass either to the government or to the party," Gowda told mediapersons in Bangalore.
"So, for that reason we are resigning and you (the Chief Minister) please accept our resignation. We want to come out with a clean chit and we will request the speaker to initiate action and let them inquire into the matter. Let them come out clean... we are not at the mercy of the opposition," he added
The three ministers, who submitted their resignations to Gowda in the wake of the ongoing controversy earlier in the day, are Minister for Cooperation Laxman Savadi, Minister for Women and Child Development C C Patil and Minister for Ports Krishna Palemar. (ANI)
