Gay sportsmen might take years to come out in pubic, claims rugby star Gareth Thomas

London, February 1(ANI): Gay rugby star Gareth Thomas has said that several sportsmen had clandestinely revealed that that they are gay and it might take years for them to come out in public since their profession is still dogged by homophobia.

"I have had sports stars speak to me and tell me they are gay but they are not open about it. I was lucky that I had such support from my family and friends," The Daily Star quoted Thomas, as saying.

Gareth, 37, who came third on CBB, hoped to have help squash out narrow-mindedness when he confessed of being a gay after divorcing in 2009.e pledged to keep the secrets of a gay sportsman till his last breath.

"Anyone who's told me they are gay I will take their secret to the grave. They must choose their own time to come out," he further added. (ANI)
