Srinagar, Jan 27 (ANI): Indian Army personnel were from the Third Rashtriya Rifles were recently given special training and equipment on how to rescue civilians trapped in an avalanche.
According to Third Rashtriya Rifles Commanding officer, D K Malik, the personnel were trained about the steps they need to be taken to rescue trapped people and to provide them with immediate first aid.
"We have equipments, dogs which would help us to reach out to the stranded people in the snow. We can take the civilians out from the snow and they can immediately be provided with first aid. For this a special team has been formed," said Malik.
The personnel of the Indian army said the training would help them to strengthen their bond with residents and the army further.
"We are undergoing training about an avalanche in order to rescue civilians, vehicles on the National Highway stuck in that avalanche," said Randeep Kumar, an army soldier.
roops are also being briefed about the dos and don'ts during a rescue operation and have also been taught how to use avalanche chords, beacons, probes, shovels, and other equipment. (ANI)
