As Panesar feels good about comeback, England struggle against Pak spinners

Dubai, Thu, 26 Jan 2012 ANI

Dubai, Jan.26 (ANI): England has made a cautious start in the second Test against Pakistan being played here, having lost the wicket of skipper Andrew Strauss (11) for 96 in reply to Pakistan's first innings total of 257.

On Thursday, the English batters were once again subjected to a trial by spin in the desert.

Strauss made 11 before being caught off bat and pad at short leg of the bowling of Mohammad Hafeez.

Cook and Jonathan Trott survived until lunch, resistance built to the hassle from Pakistan's spinners and the yelps from their wicketkeeper, Adnan Akmal.

Meanwhile, left-arm spinner Monty Panesar has said that he was glad to be included in the eleven for the Test after a gap of nearly three years. He grabbed a wicket for 91 runs of his 33 overs.

"I was really pleased, really excited to come back after such a long time," he told Sky Sports 1.

He added: "There was a bit of nerves flying around. I was looking forward to bowling Swanny and applying pressure on the Pakistan batsmen."

"I think the spinners and fast bowlers are in the game with the new ball." (ANI)
