BCCI disappointed over India's performance Down Under

New Delhi, Jan 15 (ANI): Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) Vice President Rajiv Shukla expressed his discontent over the performance of the Indian team in the third test match against Australia at Perth.

Shukla told the mediapersons in New Delhi on Sunday, that collective and necessary measures would be taken up to review the performance of the team.

"Definitely it is very unfortunate and disappointing. I agree that our players didn't perform well in the match and hence their performance was unsatisfactory. Collective measures will be taken by the team management, the concerned authority is in constant touch with players so that our players well in the next match," said Shukla.

A rampant Australia blitzed India's tail to crush the hapless tourists by an innings and 37 runs with more than two days to spare in the third test, reclaiming the Border-Gavaskar trophy they relinquished in 2009, on Sunday.

Shukla added that it was totally wrong to quote that players who were unwell had been forced to play the matches.

"The argument is totally wrong; no player is being forced to play. When player say that he is totally fit and healthy, then only we pick that player in the team to play, so it is totally wrong to say this that only unwell players are being lifter to play the matches," he said.

It was a seventh successive overseas test defeat for India after the 4-0 drubbing they received in England last summer to lose the number one test ranking.

Shukla also commented on Mahendra Singh Dhoni's one match ban for slow over rate. This is totally procedural and considering the rules of the match, the referee decides that whether the player will play the next match or not," said Shukla (ANI)
