Wellington, Jan 17(ANI): Pakistan captain Misbah-ul-Haq scored 99 on Monday to help his team take a first-innings lead of 20 runs on the third day of the second Test being played against New Zealand in Wellington.

Misbah fell one run short of his third Test century when he was dismissed leg before wicket by fast bowler Chris Martin after a 207-ball innings, the New Zealand Herald reports.

He shared a fourth wicket stand of 142 with Younis Khan to guide the tourists to 286-3.

However, Khan's controversially dismissal from the final delivery before tea sparked a batting collapse.

Pakistan then lost six wickets for 82 runs as they went from a position of apparent control to be bowled out for 376 in reply to New Zealand's 356 all out in the first innings.

New Zealand captain Daniel Vettori led the fightback to finish with figures of 4-100 from 47 overs.

Martin was rewarded for consistently charging in all day, as he finished with 4-91 from 32 overs.

New Zealand were nine without loss in their second innings at stumps. They trail by 11 runs with 10 wickets remaining.

Brief Scorecard:
