Aussies must embrace criticism to revive on-field fortunes: Kasprowicz

Sydney, Mon, 17 Jan 2011 ANI

Sydney, Jan 17(ANI): Australia must embrace criticism and hard-core discipline to revive its on-field fortunes following the recent Ashes disaster, former fast bowler Michael Kasprowicz has said.

"In the great teams there is a core discipline. There's rules, consequences and every environment needs them. You need to have a healthy amount of respect for your teammates and opposition," Fox Sports quoted Kasprowicz, as saying.

"The third element is communication ranging from criticism and feedback coming back through and once you have respect you can talk to people about it with an honesty component."

"When you have all those in place, it is amazing how you can create a great belief. Great teams believe they can win from anywhere," he added.

Kasprowicz also believes that former cricketers would be willing to lend a helping hand to retain the lost blood-and-thunder team culture.

"I think anyone who has played cricket for Australia would like to offer themselves and solutions," the 38-year-old said.

Australia had lost the five-match series 3-1 to give England their first Test series win Down Under since the 1986-87 tour.

It was also the first time that Australia has lost three matches in a series by more than an innings in 135 years of Test cricket. (ANI)
