Bangalore, Jan 16 (ANI): The three-day long XX Travel and Tourism Fair began here on Saturday.
This year's edition of the fair has witnessed over 250 participants from all over India, including representatives from 17 states and also three foreign countries such as Hong Kong and Nepal.
Sanjiv Aggarwal, Chief Executive Officer of Travel and Tourism Fair has said this fair gives the opportunity to the industry members to communicate with the people.
"It's like a super bazaar (market) of travel products and the idea is that for three days, they are networking amongst the industry and also with the consumers," he added.
Aggarwal also said that tourism industry accounts to 10 percent of the country's GDP and it has become a big business and is growing more.
"As an industry its also growing and it's a big part of GDP. About 10 percent of GDP is tourism and employment generation is also about 10 percent. One in every 10-employed person is in tourism industry. So, that needs a big business and it is growing, it's very good," he added.
Among other participating states are Kerala, Jammu and Kashmir, Andhra Pradesh, Delhi, Haryana, Jharkhand, Goa, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Meghalaya, Puducherry, Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu, Uttar Pradesh and West Bengal. (ANI)
