Commerce Minister Sharma to open "The India Show" in Singapore

New Delhi, Jan 13 (ANI): Union Commerce and Industry Minister Anand Sharma will inaugurate "The India Show" in Singapore on Friday to strengthen bilateral economic and trade ties.

 

Coinciding with the event, "Indovations" - India's ideas for the world - a Symposium is being organised focussing on key areas of the Indian economy -manufacturing, services and infrastructure.

 

The concurrent events that will be held during "The India Show" include a three days exhibition, one to one business meetings, India Symposium, high level CEOs delegation and a cultural evening.

 

The CEOs delegation to Singapore will explore possibilities of strengthening bilateral trade relations between India and Singapore and ASEAN, especially in the areas of manufacturing, services and infrastructure.

 

The event is being jointly organized by the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), the India High Commission in Singapore and India Brand Equity Foundation (IBEF).

 

It would feature the participation of over 90 exhibitors showcasing the innovations and expertise of India Inc in manufacturing, services and infrastructure sectors. Tata Nano will be showcased for the very first time in Singapore.

 

Bilateral trade between Singapore and India has been growing at around 20 per cent annually. It reached 8.65 billion dollars in 2005 and 13.79 billion dollars during January-November 2010.

 

Total foreign direct investment (FDI) inflows received from Singapore are 11.47 billion dollars. Top sectors attracted FDI from Singapore are from services sector, telecommunication, petroleum and natural gas, computer software and hardware and construction activities. (ANI)
