Sydney, Jan 10(ANI): Australian all-rounder Dan Christian has said that his new 900,000 dollar contract with Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise Deccan Chargers has come as a surprise to him.
The 27-year-old, who has just three Twenty20 games of international experience, was snapped up for a price 18 times that of his base price of 50,000 dollars on the second and final day of the IPL player auction held in Bangalore on Sunday.
"It'd be nice to earn those kind of figures in a full career. Its been a funny afternoon, to say the least," the Age quoted Christian, as saying.
"Compared to the other guys, I was just hoping to get picked up and play a part in it, so to go for 900,000 dollars, words can't really describe it," he added.
When asked what he would be doing with his new-found riches, the all-rounder said: "No idea, to be honest. It's still sinking in for sure."
Christian had made his Twenty20 international debut against the West Indies last year, and was a member of the Australian squad for the 2010 Twenty20 World Cup.
He had also played for Hampshire in their victorious 2010 Twenty20 Cup campaign. (ANI)
