Agartala, Jan.2 (ANI): The 30th edition of ongoing five-day science exhibition concluded on Saturday in Agartala.

This exhibition was organised under the aegis of provincial Science and Technology of the State and State Council of Education Research and Training under the State education department.

Over 50 schools beside colleges and departments from different districts of Tripura participated in the exhibition that was held under the theme "Science and Technology for Challenges in Life."

Over 57 science models were at display in the event.

Kakuli Acharjee, an engineer of State Education Department, said the main aim of the department is to make the people aware of Tripura as it comes under seismic zone 5, and with little application of science they can make earthquake proof building at very low cost.

"Through this science fair, we try to give people the idea that our offices are doing these types of work including the earthquake resistance structure. Basically, we are giving mportance in the earthquake resistance structure because Tripura is under Zone 5 in the seismic Zone 5, so it is very much important whenever you design a building, so it must be earthquake resistant," said Acharjee.

The science fair was held to encourage students towards scientific field, and to imbibe innovative skills that has been gradually depleting among them.

"Be it a boy or girl the trend is to become either a doctor or an engineer. But very few want to become a scientist and if it continues then the process of development shall go down in the future. Hence such science fair can encourage the young generation to become scientists and which is a better sign for our future," said Nabarup Ganguly, a participant.

Visitors showed keen interest in the work of young students.

Besides these stalls, there were books on science, technology and autobiographies of great scientists. By Pinaki Das (ANI)
