Jaipur, Dec.31 (ANI): Hoteliers in Jaipur lured residents with attractive packages to make up the losses caused by absence of tourists, due to the blockade by Gujjars in the stir for reservation.
Jaipur, popularly known as the Pink City, is a hot spot destination for New Year celebrations but this time it has suffered losses in the peak season with tourists being sceptical about visiting the region.
The hotel industry has faced cancellation of nearly fifty percent room bookings.
M. S. Tomar, General Manager of a hotel, said the stir by the Gujjars has discouraged tourists from making a trip to Rajasthan.
"If we take room-wise review, the losses have increased a lot because nobody wants to travel here. We now have to depend more on our domestic market and the internal programs that we hold," said Tomar.
Since the room wise loss is major, this is a big difference this time. So, this time our focus has changed more towards the residents here," he added.
Tomar further said after facing cancellations up to fifty percent, they are now selling hotel rooms at negotiable price so that they can break even their cost.
Tanmaya Chaturvedi, Assistant General Manager in another hotel, said they are trying to attract local market with discounted tariffs and special packages for the New Year bash.
"I agree that tourism industry has faced losses. And we hoteliers are trying hard to bridge these losses by giving special packages to attract customers so that we can make up for the loss in business and revenue. We have offers, packages that are attracting guests. I am hoping for the best and hope that we would be able to cover the losses," said Chaturvedi. By Lokender Singh (ANI)
