Ferguson agrees to allow striker Macheda to go out on loan

London, Thu, 30 Dec 2010 ANI

London, Dec 30 (ANI): Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson has agreed to allow striker Federico Macheda to go out on loan for the rest of the season.

A number of Italian clubs, including Juventus, Fiorentina, Parma and his former club Lazio, want to sign Macheda.

Ferguson is hoping the experience of regular football will bring on the Italy Under-21 forward in the same way that Danny Welbeck has developed during his loan spell under Steve Bruce at Sunderland, the Daily Express reports.

Ferguson is adamant that he does not want to sell Macheda, whose agent, Marcello Bonetto, said: "Federico could leave United, that is true, but only on loan. The club and Ferguson have absolute faith in Kiko."

"With the return to fitness of Michael Owen, confirmation of Wayne Rooney's new contract, plus fine form for Dimitar Berbatov and Javier Hernandez, the space for him in Manchester has been reduced," Bonetto said.

"We talked it over and were given the all-clear by Ferguson to go on loan for six months in January to gain experience. If we do decide to leave Manchester, then Italy represents the most likely destination," he said. (ANI)
