Lalit Modi gets reprieve from Bombay High Court

Mumbai, Sat, 25 Dec 2010 ANI

Mumbai, Dec 25 (ANI): The Bombay High Court on Saturday stayed the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI)'s disciplinary committee's proceedings against former Indian Premier League (IPL) Chairman Lalit Modi on charges of financial irregularities in the conduct of the cash-rich T20 Cricket tournament.

Modi's counsel Mehmood Abdi had earlier challenged the legality of the three-member disciplinary committee - comprising Chirayu Amin, Arun Jaitley and Jyotiraditya Scindia, saying that the three-member disciplinary panel did not have the BCCI General Body's mandate.

Abdi also alleged that the BCCI had forgotten to re-constitute the Committee for the year 2010-2011 at its Annual General Meeting (AGM) held in September.

The Bombay High Court had earlier stayed the termination of IPL franchisees Kings XI Punjab and Rajasthan Royals. (ANI)
