Patna, Dec 19 (ANI): Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has flagged off a new passenger train here, and appealed to the people of the state to protect trains and public property.
"I would like to request you all to please cooperate with the railway authorities, buy tickets and travel, do not stop trains unnecessarily. I even want to urge the railway authorities to keep the trains clean and try and run them on time," Kumar told reporters here on Saturday.
"Railways are the lifeline of the country and people should take initiative to protect trains and railway property from elements who try to disrupt rail traffic and damage railway property," he added.
Later, he offered a 'chadar' at the Hajrat Makhdoom Saiyyad Shahabuddin Peer Jangjot Rahamtullah Aleh Kutchi Dargah Jethuli Sharif Mazar in Patna City.
"I prayed for peace, love, humanity and communal harmony all throughout Bihar. Bihar should develop fast and the people of Bihar should leave peacefully. That is all I prayed," he said.
Kumar also inspected the neighbouring localities and directed the local officials to accelerate the beautification drive in and around the holy shrine and implement other projects immediately. (ANI)
