Lucknow, Dec 13 (ANI): The Allahabad High Court on Monday granted bail to former Uttar Pradesh Chief Secretary Neera Yadav in connection with a land grab case.
Yadav was found guilty of violating norms in allotting industrial land while she was the chief executive officer of Noida Authority in the 1990s.
The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) court in Ghaziabad had earlier sentenced her to four years imprisonment.
It has been reported that Yadav, who is the wife of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLA Mahindra Singh Yadav, willfully allotted seven acres of land to Flex Group Chairman Ashok Chaturvedi.
The court also held Chaturvedi guilty and awarded a quantum punishment of four years of imprisonment to him in the case.
The CBI had registered the case on the Supreme Court orders.
Yadav was removed as chief secretary following a Supreme Court order issued last October.
The apex court order came on a PIL filed by the Centre, challenging her appointment in the wake of corruption charges against her in the land scam.
The Noida Entrepreneurs Association had filed a writ petition in 1997 and alleged large-scale bungling in the allotment of land in different sectors and in commercial Sector 18 during Yadav's tenure as chairperson-cum-chief executive of the Noida Authority. (ANI)
