Perth, Dec 13 (ANI): Western Australia left-arm spinner Michael Beer is set for a 100,000 dollars-plus pay rise after his selection in the 12-man Australian squad for the third Ashes Test, starting in Perth from Thursday.
Beer is currently on a rookie contract worth 52,000 dollars with Western Australia.
Factoring in match payments of 4200 dollars for each of his six first-class games in 2010, the left-arm finger-spinner stood to pocket an estimated 77,000 dollars.
According to News.com.au, should he be handed his Baggy Green cap for the third Test as expected, and finish the Ashes series as Australia's spin fixture, Beer will be in line for his maiden Cricket Australia contract, featuring a base salary of 210,000 dollars.
Beer will receive 13,500 dollars alone for being part of the Australian set-up in Perth.
If he sees out the remainder of the Ashes series, he will be paid 40,500 dollars for the final three Tests against England.
The 26-year-old is the 10th spin bowler and the most unusual to be selected since the retirement of leg-spin legend Shane Warne nearly four years ago. (ANI)
