PCB to hold anti-corruption seminars and workshops as part of reform process

Lahore , Thu, 09 Dec 2010 ANI

Lahore, Dec 9 (ANI): The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) will hold anti-corruption seminars and workshops this month to educate players and officials belonging to the regional and departmental teams about the International Cricket Council's (ICC) anti-corruption code of conduct.

"The move is a part of the reforms being carried out by the PCB to improve the enforcement of the anti-corruption code in domestic cricket," the Daily Times quoted a PCB spokesman, as saying.

The spokesman said that the security manager would be educating the players and officials of domestic teams about the ICC's anti-corruption measures as well as those being enforced by the PCB.

"It is an attempt to ensure that no player or official can ever say he was not aware of certain clauses of the code," the spokesman added.

The ICC had given the PCB a deadline of one month to introduce reforms in its cricket structure after the spot-fixing scandal involving key Pakistani players broke out in August.

The ICC's intention behind introducing reforms in Pakistan cricket was aimed at ensuring that anti-corruption measures were implemented properly and seriously.

It is noteworthy that the PCB's match referees have already fined two players for bringing and talking on mobile phones during domestic matches. (ANI)
