Srinagar, Dec 1 (ANI): Director General of Police, Jammu and Kashmir, Kuldeep Khoda has said the state police and other security outfits are jointly working to restore normalcy in the Kashmir Valley.

Addressing media persons here, Khoda said: " Jammu and Kashmir Police along with other security forces is committed to bring peace in this troubled torn state. The recent agitation, various unfortunate incidents has (have) also been brought under control to a certain extent and our efforts along with all right thinking people in the state is (are) continuing to bring back normalcy."

Citing statistics, Khoda said militancy has declined in the valley.

"The figures of terrorism have come down as compared to last year. The incidents overall are less than what they were last year, if you recall, I had mentioned last year that 2009 witnessed the lowest ever militancy in 20 years of turmoil and this year they are even lower," he added.

Recalling Monday's Qamarwari shootout, Khoda said: "They (militants) were killed in an encounter in full public view" and the module was headed by Waseem Raja Guru and the rented accommodation of Arshid Bashir was used as a hideout.

"This module was also involved in the killing of two CRPF men in Pattan town on November 10." (ANI)
