Britain's 'worst football team' concedes 227 goals in 11 games!

London , Tue, 30 Nov 2010 ANI

London, Nov 30(ANI): Madron FC, a football team from Cornwall, has gained fame after being branded the worst in Britain following the loss of 11 games in a row in which it conceded 227 goals.

The club had suffered a demoralizing start to the season when they lost 55-0 to Illogan Reserves.

Failure on the football field is new to Madron FC who enjoyed promotion from division two of the Cornish Mining League last season after coming out on top.

However a mass exodus of players followed by the manager's departure has left the village team short of quality and numbers.

Meanwhile, stand-in manager Alan Davenport has admitted that his side is "probably the worst team in Britain" after their "embarrassing" string of results, but praised his players' attitude.

"I know everybody is probably laughing at us, but we will battle on. We will definitely keep playing every week and fulfil our fixtures until the end of the season. We have no plans to stop," the Telegraph quoted Davenport, as saying.

"Some of the players aren't that brilliant so they are just happy to play. They can't get games with anyone else. Fair play to them for turning up really. It would be easy to just give in and let their heads drop, but we'll fight on," he added. (ANI)
