Karachi, Nov 25 (ANI): A domestic-level Pakistan cricketer was fined for using his mobile phone in the team's dressing room during the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy match between Karachi Blues and WAPDA at the National Stadium on Wednesday.
Naved Khan of Karachi Blues was fined 7,500 rupees by match referee Anwar Khan after the player was found guilty of violating the Pakistan Cricket Board's code of conduct, The News reported.
According to TV footage obtained by Geo News, Naved was seen chatting on his cell phone inside the dressing room while the match was going on.
After the story was aired, Anwar carried out a swift probe into this matter and decided to penalise the player.
This is for the first time in Pakistan that a cricketer has been fined for using his mobile phone during a domestic match.
Pakistan's cricket authorities have been forced to get tough on discipline even on the domestic level following an ultimatum by the International Cricket Council (ICC) last month.
Earlier, the ICC had warned the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) to get its house in order or face sanctions, including suspension from international cricket. (ANI)
