London, Nov 20 (ANI): Chelsea's ace striker Didier Drogba is not like any other footballer indulging in extravagance or cheating their partners, but is a man with a golden heart dedicated to helping the world's sick.
Drogba launched a charity three years ago to help support vital health and education projects in Africa. Money has already gone to the Red Cross and orphanages in his native Ivory Coast.
The striker is facing his most ambitious challenge yet to build a hospital in Abidjan, the country's largest city.
"Football is my life but for me, before being a professional player, I am a man. Today I'm playing football but if I was working somewhere else I would still have the same desire to help," The Sun quoted him, as saying.
"When I stop playing football, I will still carry on with this. It's important for me. In football you are lucky if your career is ten to 15 years. But after that I will still have some time to do this," Drogba said.
Drogba, who s suffering from malaria, an illness that kills thousands of people every year in Africa, is determined to help sick kids who aren't as lucky. (ANI)
