Karnataka Chief Minister to face BJP core team on corruption charges

Mumbai , Thu, 18 Nov 2010 ANI

Mumbai, Nov 18 (ANI): A meeting of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) core committee will be held this evening to discuss the allegations of corruption against Karnataka Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa.

Talking to reporters here, Party President Nitin Gadkari said: "We will discuss the matter and verify it."

Earlier in the day, Yeddyurappa said that there was absolutely no threat to his government and the BJP leadership was satisfied with his government's performance.

"I will continue as Chief Minister for the remaining two and a half years," said Yeddyurappa, who has come under attack from the opposition, which is seeking his ouster over alleged land scams and has questioned the allotment of land to a firm in which his two sons are partnershe.

"I spoke to Nitin Gadkari last night and briefed him elaborately over the media reports (on the allegations)," Yeddyurappa added.

"The reports that Gadkari and RSS are unhappy with me are only a media creation," Yeddyurappa said.

Recently, opposition leader H.D. Kumaraswamy had claimed that Yeddyurappa's sons had been allotted 2.5 acres of de-notified land.

Kumaraswamy had also alleged that Yeddyurappa misused his position to de-notify state-owned land to favour his sons. (ANI)
