Srinagar, Nov.14 (ANI): The population of the female Hangul stag, an endangered antlered red deer, has increased by nine percent in the Kashmir Valley.
"As far as the safety of Hangul stag is concerned, we know that Hangul is found only in Kashmir valley in the world. And according to the census of 2008-2009, it is good news that the female-found ratio has increased by 9 percent," Nazir Malik, a forest ranger in the Dachigam National Park.
"We are studying and identifying all factors responsible for the declining population of the Hangul stag and we are trying to look for scientific solutions to those factors. We are hoping that the population will increase and it will respond positively to intervention of our management. We will try to increase and save the population in coming decade," said Rashid Naqash, a wildlife warden. By Afzal Bhat (ANI)
