London, Nov 13 (ANI): Fabio Capello's right-hand man has questioned former skipper John Terry's commitment to the England team.
England No.2 Franco Baldini questioned Chelsea skipper after he pulled out of the Euro 2012 qualifier against Montenegro last month because of a back injury.
Terry was 'stunned' by the suggestion that he had lost his passion for his country, and insisted he remained as committed and patriotic as ever, The Sun reports.
Baldini, though, then spoke with Chelsea manager Carlo Ancelotti to ask him whether Terry's appetite for international football remained the same.
The Blues' boss was equally emphatic about Terry's dedication to the Three Lions.
Terry's injury had improved enough for him to play for Chelsea against Aston Villa, four days after the dismal 0-0 draw with Montenegro.
The defender had also missed England's two previous games, against Bulgaria and Switzerland in September.
A top FA source confirmed: "I think everyone was a bit surprised Franco did this and certainly John Terry was, he was stunned. He was quick to assure Franco he is proud to play for England. We certainly don't want any rift developing here." (ANI)
