Amritsar, Thu, 04 Nov 2010 ANI

Amritsar Nov. 4 (ANI): To mark the 26th Anniversary of 1984 Sikh massacre in Delhi and other parts of India, the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbhandhak committee (SGPC) the premier Sikh body of the Sikhs on Wednesday observed "Ardass Divas" (prayer day) at the Akal Takht, the highest temporal seat of the Sikhs.

Nearly 3000 Sikhs were killed by violent mobs, allegedly instigated by certain Congress leaders, in New Delhi and other places across India after the assassination of then Prime Minister Indira Gandhi on October 31, 1984.

Sikh leaders demanded that those guilty of instigating and leading riots against Sikhs should be brought to the justice. They blamed that Victims of the 1984 massacre have not got justice in the last 26 years and the Congress is trying to shield them.

To keep up the pressure to seek justice for victims of the 1984 anti-Sikh riots some radicals organization has given the "Punjab Bandh Call". (ANI)
