Srinagar, Nov 3 (ANI): A strike called by the hardline faction of the Hurriyat Conference on Wednesday disrupted normal life here and in other major towns of Kashmir Valley.
Public transport remained off the roads during the shutdown. A few private and commercial vehicles, however, were seen plying on almost all routes.
The strike had little impact in smaller towns such as Chrar-e-Sharief in Central Kashmir's Budgam District, Tangmarg, Uri, Karnah and Tanghdar in North Kashmir's Baramulla and Kupwara Districts and Kokernag in South Kashmir's Anantnag District.
Security forces were patrolling different areas of Srinagar and other major towns to maintain law and order and scuttle protests.
Kashmir Valley has witnessed violent protests, strikes and curfew since June when a 17-year-old boy was killed by police in the Rajouri Kadal area of the city. (ANI)
