Facebook page commending drink driving has 20,000 fans

Melbourne , Fri, 29 Oct 2010 ANI

Melbourne, Oct 29 (ANI): A Facebook page that extols people who drink and drive has left the police in Australia shocked.

The page titled, "if u drink n drive ur a bloody idiot, if u make it home ur a f------ legend", has garnered 20,000 fans and several are from Geelong in Victoria.

According to the Geelong Advertiser, the public notice board on the page is filled with fans boasting about their drink-driving experiences.

Geelong Traffic Management Senior Sergeant Shane Coles said it was difficult to believe the page existed, and he has warned fans that the police could target users in the future.

"There's a lot of legends who didn't make it home. I'm sure they don't want to be the legend on the front page of the Addy as a deceased driver," the Courier Mail quoted him as saying.

"They're playing with fire and they need to realise that police don't live in a cave, we do use these sites.

"Users on pages like YouTube and Facebook we can follow up on and we can target in the future," he stated.

The warning came as local police continue to fight an ongoing battle against Geelong drunks.

The city currently rates as Victoria's second worst for drink-drivers despite police efforts reducing serious injuries on our roads significantly. (ANI)
