Mumbai, Oct.28 (ANI): Bollywood actors Fardeen Khan, Hrithik Roshan and his wife Suzanne, besides film director Vidhu Vinod Chopra and veteran actress Waheeda Rehman attended a special screening of a cancer documentary titled '1 A Minute' here on Wednesday.
The 90-minute documentary featured celebrity cancer survivors such as actresses Barbara Mori and Jaclyn Smith, and singers Olivia Newton-John and Melissa Etheridge.
The documentary was aimed at initiating a global movement that would curb the disease by spreading awareness.
Hrithik said that he was present to extend his support to the cause.
"We are here to show our support in the effort to try and create awareness about this disease. I have, you know, in my own family, my sister is a cancer survivor. Barbara Mori has survived this disease," he added.
"The only thing I know is that they caught it in time because there was awareness. So, I just think that it is really, really important and it's great that somebody has made a film, a docu-drama, and we are here to create the awareness and we are here to show our support," he said.
Priya Dutt, a Congress lawmaker, said that the documentary shows the emotional journey of women who have survived breast cancer.
"I think it was beautifully made and it was an emotional journey for any women who saw it, and not only women, I think it is also the men who saw it and we had a lot of survivors in the audience, and I spoke to a lot of them after the film and it was so beautiful to see that they connected just immediately," said Dutt.
The documentary is produced and directed by breast cancer survivor Namrata Singh Gujral.
It is slated for release on Friday, A portion of the ticket sales will be donated to the Nargis Dutt Memorial Charitable Trust with the aim of raising funds and spreading awareness about cancer in India. By Shaikh Sharik (ANI)
