New York, Oct 16 (ANI): Fox News host Bill O'Reilly has defended himself after the "Muslims" comment he made on "The View", prompting two other co-hosts Joy Behar and Whoopi Goldberg to walk off from the live show.
O'Reilly replayed the bombshell interview about the proposed mosque near Ground Zero, where he declared, "Muslims killed us on 9/11."
According to the New York Daily News, later on his show, O'Reilly reaffirmed his beliefs, saying he did not want to insult Muslims but was "tired of the political correctness surrounding the 9/11 attack. The truth is that if moderate Muslims all over the world would stand with America against radical Islam, the terrorists couldn't exist. ... I'm not in the business of sugarcoating harsh realities."
He compared his comments to some made during World War II, noting Americans did not specify that "Japanese extremists attacked us" then.
O'Reilly said he was merely trying to give the audience of "The View" a different viewpoint because, aside from right-leaning co-host Elisabeth Hasselbeck, "They don't see it my way."
MSNBC's Keith Olbermann didn't buy it, dismissing O'Reilly as "just another Fox News bigot and Islamophobe."
He named O'Reilly one of the "worst persons in the world."
"I mean, it's like asking who used to be the cleverest juvenile delinquent in the school," Olbermann said.
"But now he's just parroting Gretchen Carlson and Glenn Beck over there," Olbermann added. (ANI)
