New Delhi, Oct.14 (ANI): Sri Lankan Foreign minister Gamini Lakshman Peiris met his Indian counterpart SM Krishna to discuss issues of mutual concern here on Thursday.
Peiris, is accompanying Sri Lankan President Mahinda Rajapaksa, who is in the capital to attend the closing ceremony of the XIX Commonwealth Games as the Guest of honour.
The Sri Lankan officials are also slated to meet the Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and discuss bilateral issues.
Peiris is also scheduled to meet the members of the Indian Cabinet, Home Minister P. Chidambaram and Overseas Minister Vayalar Ravi.
Both the countries plan to help and rehabilitate the displaced Tamil civilians of the island country.
Thousands of Tamil civilians were displaced by the war between the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) and the Sri Lankan Army.
India has offered help to build houses for the civilians.
Krishna would also be visiting the island at the end of the month and assess the Northern Province that was under the rebel group for years. (ANI)
