India retains second place at CWG with Saina's gold in badminton

New Delhi, Oct 14 (ANI): India retained the second place on the last day of the XIXth Commonwealth Games with ace shuttler Saina Nehwal winning the gold in badminton.

 

She became the first Indian woman shuttler to win gold at the Commonwealth Games with her win over Malaysia's Wong Mew Chew in the badminton women's singles.

 

Saina played down the pressure angle defeating Chew 19-21, 23-21and 21-13 to win the 38th gold for the country.

 

India is currently at number two position in the medal haul behind Australia. (ANI)
