Sydney, Oct 11 (ANI): Australian cricketer Matthew Hayden launched his revealing and humorous biography titled 'Last Man Standing' on Sunday.

According to the Sydney Morning Herald, after two years and more than 100 hours of interviews with renowned cricket journalist Robert Craddock about his life and career, Hayden launched his book at Queensland Cricketer's Club overlooking the Gabba where he cracked 149 runs on debut for the Bulls in 1991.

The book reportedly contains his journey of from a kid obsessed with wearing the baggy green to one who proved his critics wrong by becoming one of the most decorated openers of all time.

In his biography, he has admitted to being at the forefront of verbal attacks, his highs and lows, his painful battles to convince selectors and others of his worth, and of his love for his wife and young family and friends who never wavered in their support of him.

Sydney radio personality Allan Jones, who happened to be a close friendship of late Sir Donald Bradman, launched Hayden's book. A number of celebrities including former Queensland team-mates Trevor Barsby and Jimmy Maher, his former coach John Buchanan, national catching coach Mike Young and current Test selector and former Australian team-mate Merv Hughes were present during the book launch.

Talking about Hayden, Jones recalled asking the former Australian captain, Steve Waugh, whether if there was a problem looming with the openers, to which Waugh answered saying, "I'm telling you, we've got a bloke here that is going to be the greatest opening batsman the country has ever seen".

"Matthew took opening to a new level with his aggressive, dominating style. As a captain the greatest joy you can have is seeing a player fulfil his potential, which Haydos certainly did," he added then. (ANI)
