Bangalore, Oct 8(ANI): Australian batsman Mike Hussey has said that the inexperienced players in his country's 15-man squad are taking maximum advantage of net sessions in Indian conditions to earn a place in the final eleven for the second Test in Bangalore.
Australian fast bowlers Peter George, Mitchell Starc and James Pattinson are all fighting hard to take fast bowler Doug Bollinger's place if he does not recover from an abdominal strain.
"We like to have guys who are trying to get into the Test side. They are charging at you. The intensity of a net session is as good as a match situation," The Sydney Morning Herald quoted Hussey, as saying.
"We are trying to create the same intensity and pressure of a match during the net session so that you don't feel that you are far away from the middle. I had not faced them before - Starc and Pattinson - and I am very impressed," he added.
The 35-year-old further said that the Australian players were in 'good spirits' despite the disappointing one-wicket loss in the first Test at Mohali.
"The mood was pretty buoyant at training. Some of the guys, particularly the fast bowlers, are trying to recover as best as they can because it was a gruelling Test match," Hussey said.
"We were part of something special, but we are disappointed with the result. We have played some amazing Tests over the years, but being on the winning side makes a hell of a difference," he added.
The second Test begins in Bangalore from Saturday. (ANI)
