India's hotel industry focusing on next-generation technologies

Bangalore, Thu, 07 Oct 2010 ANI

Bangalore, Oct 7 (ANI-Business Wire India): India has emerged as an attractive tourist destination with an increasing number of multi-national hospitality companies investing in India.

There has been a steep increase in hotel occupancy levels, with the industry expected to grow at 15 percent per year. To sustain its growth and continue to attract overseas travelers to India, the industry is exploring the latest customer-centric next generation technologies.

According to sources, India's hotel pipeline is the second largest in the Asia-Pacific region and the industry is set to be the second largest employer in the world by 2019. It is also estimated that the hospitality industry in India will contribute 187.3 billion dollars to the GDP by 2019.

Today's guests arrive at a hotel with a high level of expectations - a hotel room needs to be their home away from home, and offer new services. The industry's biggest challenge currently is maintaining a balance of achieving a healthy bottom line while enhancing the guest experience, creating guest loyalty and attracting new guests.

The key to creating the new guest-centric environment is to integrate the right technologies in the right way to create a ubiquitous and efficient network that can support guest services and hotel operations.

In a recent survey conducted by IQPC, it was found that over 50 percent of respondents were spending the majority of their IT budgets on in-room entertainment as a way to stay ahead of their competitors.

In an effort to contribute to the growth of the hotel industry in India and drive innovation, IQPC will launch Hotel Technology India 2010, the Indian edition of its global hotel technology conferences.

The event which will take place on November 11 and 12 in Goa aims to provide a platform to explore latest technologies for the hotel industry in order to maximise revenue and enhance guest experience.

Hotel Technology India 2010, will bring together experts from across the globe to discuss new strategies and trends to implement state-of-the art solutions.

One of the attendees of IQPC's hotel technology events, the CIO of Movenpick Hotels and Resorts Management said that "Hotel Technology 2010 is an excellent forum for information exchange and to keep up to date about hotel technology challenges".

Hotel Technology India 2010 will also feature some of the leading solution providers like AGC Networks and MSR IT Solutions who specialise in solutions for alleviating the challenges facing the industry over two days of incisive learning and excessive knowledge exchange. (ANI)
