BJP to raise issue of misuse of CBI in Parliament: Sushma Swaraj

Ahmedabad, Wed, 06 Oct 2010 ANI

Ahmedabad, Oct 6 (ANI): Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Sushma Swaraj has said that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) would raise the issue of the alleged misuse of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) by the Congress during the winter session of Parliament.

Addressing local functionaries of her party here on Tuesday, Swaraj said: "We will again raise the demand for a discussion on the misuse of CBI by the Congress in the forthcoming winter session," she said

"We want to tell the people from the forum of Parliament that how the government was misusing CBI for political gains," she claimed.

She further alleged that the CBI was used by the Central Government to put former Gujarat Home Minister Amit Shah behind the bars in a concocted case.

"The Central Government agrees to the fact that there has been an encounter but they are trying their best to put the encounter as a made up incident and in such a case of encounter, they have put Amit Shah behind bars. This is a very shameful act on the part of the government," said Swaraj.

Admiring Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi for his all round developmental initiatives in the state, Swaraj said that Modi is a fearless man and his attitude shows he has no burden of guilt on his shoulders.

Party President Nitin Gadkari said the CBI is an instrument in the hands of the Central Government.

"This CBI is actually the Congress Bureau of Investigation. This is an alliance partner of the United Progressive Alliance (UPA) Government. Whenever the government is in some kind of trouble, they use it to blackmail others. Be it Mayawati or Mulayam Singh in Uttar Pradesh or Shibu Soren in Jharkhand, they all have been blackmailed by CBI. They are misusing it to run the government and to subdue the opposition," said Gadkari.

Criticizing Central Government over farmers suicide, Gadkari said: "Thousands of farmers in the country have committed suicide due to wrong polices of the Central Government.

"The government has been pursing anti-farmer policies," he added

He also urged other State Governments to follow Gujarat as a model state in developing the agriculture sector. (ANI)
