Rajkot, Oct 5 (ANI): Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi has slammed the central government for delay in probing the alleged fake encounter case of Sohrabuddin Sheikh.
Addressing a public rally here on Monday, Modi also criticised the government for misusing the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in the case.
"It is my humble request to the people of Rajkot to ask a question to the Congress party on my behalf that how Sohrabudin is related to you? And the answer would decide whether you (people) want to vote for the BJP in the polls or not; you will find the answer." said Modi.
He further said it was unfortunate that despite there being a misappropriation of Rs 70,000 crore in the organisation of the New Delhi Commonwealth Games, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh was not willing to probe the issue.
Criticising the Union government's policy on cotton export, he said, "The government is giving subsidy for export of meat but slapping tax on cotton export."
He also alleged that Congress-led government at the Centre could not digest the progress made by Gujarat and hence was creating hurdles to spoil the State's progress.
"The Central government is torturing Gujarat by not sanctioning various developmental projects and also trying to take credit of those projects which were launched and completed by the state government," Modi said.
Meanwhile, the state president of the Congress party, Siddharth Patel, said that Modi is instigating people and also using the CW Games as a tool for playing politics.
"Those who do not have any issue to discuss do such kind of politics, and Narendra Modi ji is playing with people's emotion in the name of religion and in the name of Sohrabuddin case. He is using the Commonwealth Games (CWG) as a tool to defame the Congress party," he added.
"In Ahmedabad you have problems of potholes, overflowing gutters, bad roads. Instead of focussing on such issues, he is raising other issues to gain political points. It won't work," he said. (ANI)
