Lahore, Sep 30 (ANI): Pakistan Olympic Association (POA) Secretary General Abdul Khaliq Khan will not be attending the Commonwealth Games to be held in New Delhi from October 3 to 14.
Khaliq pointed out that the Organising Committee of the Delhi Games had sent only two invitations to all National Olympic Committees (NOCs) who were taking part in the mega event, the Daily Times reported.
"I have attended many international sporting events. For this very reason, this time I decided not to attend the Delhi Games. That is why POA president Syed Arif Hasan and POA treasurer Major (r) Mohammad Afzal will attend the Games," he added.
It is noteworthy that the international sporting events are usually attended by the NOC President and the Secretary General.
The CWG will mark Pakistan's first major participation in a sporting event in India since November 2008, though it will not compete in any of the track and field events at the Games. (ANI)
