Dikshit inaugurates 400 KV power sub-station in North West Delhi

New Delhi, Sept.30 (ANI): Inaugurating a 400 KV power sub-station at Mundka in North-West Delhi on Thursday, Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit said that her government is committed to provide un-interrupted power supply in the national capital, and added that the inverter is now part of history.

 

Stating that there has been a great improvement in the power sector in the city in the last decade, she said the state government is committed to provide sufficient and reliable power supply.

 

Dikshit further said that it would be her government's endeavor to generate more electricity within the vicinity of national capital.

 

In this regard, she said that the National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC) and the Government of Haryana have formed a joint venture that would generate 1500 MW power at its plant in Jhajjar.Dikshit said that Delhi and Haryana would get 750 MWs of power each out of this.

 

To bring this power to Delhi, DTL has established this 400 KV sub station at Mundka.

 

This sub-station has a transformation capacity of 630 MVA at 400 KV level and 320 MVA at 200 KV level. The sub-station will receive power at 400 KV level from Jhajjar super thermal power station through a 400 KV double circuit transmission line from Jhajjar to Mundka.

 

The power shall be distributed at 200 KV and 66 KV level in the West Delhi, North-West Delhi including Delhi.

 

She said that the sub-station has been erected at a cost of Rs.150 crore, using state-of-the-art technology.

 

The Delhi Government has provided 100 acres of land for the sub-station, which will also have a small housing colony for operational staff and provision for sub-station for the distribution licenses.

 

Chief Secretary Rakesh Mehta said that Power Grid is constructing another ring in Northern Region, and added that the Mundka sub-station would be linked to that ring.

 

Power Grid Corporation is constructing a 765 KV ring for the Northern Region to ensure reliable and quality power supply. The ring is to be commissioned in 2011. (ANI)
