New Delhi, Sep. 29 (ANI): Athletes from New Zealand, Singapore and Jamaica arrived for Commonwealth Games 2010 here on Wednesday.
Over 1,100 foreign athletes, officials and technical staff from different nations have reached New Delhi for the event.elhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit on Tuesday extended the deadline for the completion of work at the Commonwealth Games Village by two days as workers raced against time to clean up the complex. Earlier, the deadline was Wednesday.
Over 1,500 athletes who had arrived in New Delhi by Monday are staying at the Games Village.
So far all national delegations appear to be attending the Games after pledges from the Indian government that the event would be ready on time.
The Games are due to commence on October 3 and end on the 14th.India is expecting about two million tourists in New Delhi for the Games, as well as about 10,000 athletes from 71 teams representing 54 Commonwealth member states. (ANI)
