New Delhi, Sep.28 (ANI): Bharatiya Janata Party and Congress party on Tuesday welcomed the Supreme Court's decision to reject plea for deferment of Allahabad High Court's verdict on the Ramjanabhoomi-Babri Masjid title suit.
Both the parties reacted to the verdict in a restrained manner.
"We certainly welcome the Supreme Court decision. The party has already stated its position that it does not desire any legal delay and this verdict of the apex court has cleared the way for the verdict to be pronounced by the High Court," BJP spokesperson Nirmala Sitharaman said.
"We expect the verdict soon," said Ravi Shankar Prasad, counsel for one of the litigants in the case.
"The Allahabad High Court's decision should also be respected," Congress spokesperson Janardarn Dwivedi was quoted by NDTV as saying.
Meanwhile, Rashtriya Swayamsewak Sangh (RSS) and Waqf Board have welcomed the Supreme Court's decision.
The Supreme Court on Tuesday gave its nod to the court's Lucknow Bench to go ahead with its announcement of the judgment in the case, as it rejected an appeal that sought to defer the Allahabad Court's verdict on Ayodhya-Ramjanambhoomi title issue.
Retired bureaucrat Ramesh Chandra Tripathi had petitioned in the court to defer verdict to allow an amicable settlement of the dispute between the two parties to the issue.
The Lucknow Bench will announce its verdict on the Ramjanabhoomi-Babri Masjid title case on Thursday at 3.30 p.m. (ANI)
