Karachi, Sep 28 (ANI): British-born boxer Haroon Khan is all set to represent Pakistan at the upcoming Commonwealth Games in India.
Haroon has decided to represent the nation of his origin, unlike his elder brother Amir Khan who represents Britain, and is the WBA world light welterweight champion, the Dawn reported.
The 19-year-old from Bolton, England has vowed to represent his native country at all upcoming events.
"I will always fight for Pakistan," Haroon stated.
Haroon believes India will be able to pull off a successful CWG despite numerous controversies surrounding the facilities and athletes' security.
"I believe India would be able to hold the event successfully. So I am not concerned with what the news are circulated about different problems arising at the venue. All I am concerned is that I prepare well for the Commonwealth Games and clinch the gold medal," he said.
Some 7,000 participants and officials are expected to attend the Commonwealth Games, India's biggest sporting event since the 1982 Asian Games.
"It is a very big event and performing at such extravaganza is a dream for every athlete," Haroon said. (ANI)
