Miller fires Ashes broadside at Oz batters: Says they are running scared

London, Mon, 27 Sep 2010 ANI

London, Sept.27 (ANI): England's chief cricket selector Geoff Miller has fired a fierce Ashes broadside at the Aussies by claiming that their batsmen are running scared and fear his three-pronged giant fast-bowling attack and the world's No.1 spinner Graeme Swann.

Miller boasted that the tourists had a lot more match-winners than their Ashes rivals.

Miller said: "I am convinced that we have bowlers who the Australians will fear. We have real strength in depth in the squad and match-winners all the way through it."

The former Derbyshire and England all-rounder believes that size will matter Down Under.

"Graeme Swann is a top-class spinner who all the Test-playing teams now realise is a real handful and danger man. He can spin it on any wicket, which is the sign of a world-class bowler. Just like Shane Warne and Muttiah Muralitharan did. The playing surfaces over there will offer plenty of bounce - and we've got the bowlers who can really dish it out to their batsmen," The Mirror quoted Miller, as saying.

"It's all about pace and bounce. When you have guys bowling at over 90mph which Finn, Tremlett and Broad can, that's very good pace. And when you get irregular bounce from a length, which the tall guys get, that causes problems. I'm not thinking we are going to walk this. But I am quietly confident because of this team's positive attitude," he added. (ANI)
