Kangra (Himachal Pradesh), Sep.24 (ANI): In a five-day long training camp, twenty-three soldiers of the Indian Military Academy (IMA) learnt water rescue techniques in Pong Reservoir in Himachal Pradesh's Kangra District.
The training in rescue techniques in water along with aquatic activities like swimming, trekking, canoeing, sailing, surfing and water skiing.
"During the course, training in all the activities such as swimming, trekking, canoeing, sailing, surfing, water skiing will be given. Besides this, training on our main subject, water safety rescue, will also be given," said D. S. Thakur, an instructor.
The Regional Water Sports Centre, at Maharana Pratap Sagar Pong Dam, used to get almost two or three batches every year from Defense Services.
Soldiers believe that such training will help them.
"These are surely going to help us in our future. As those who are weak in swimming, those who've got some problem with water like they get scared by internal waters, so it's going to help them a lot, and those who think it's going to be an enjoying experience, it's going to boost up their morale," said Sumit Tiwari, a trainee soldier.
