London, Sept.23 (ANI): After three high-profile withdrawals, ace England runner Helen Clitheroe has used her Twitter account to issue a rally call to all English sportspersons to take part in the XIXth Commonwealth Games to be held in New Delhi from October 3 to 14 this year.
England's track and field team has been affected by the withdrawal of triple high jumper Phillip Idowu, Olympic 400 meter champion Christine Ohuruogu and 1500 meter Commonwealth Games champion Lisa Dobriskey.
According to The Independent, Clitheroe used her Twitter account to say: "Hands up if you're going to Delhi. I'm still in. Come on, let's get some positive vibes going."
The 36-year-old Preston Harrier was a 1500m bronze medalist in Manchester in 2002 and is preparing for her fourth Commonwealth Games.
She soon had some defiant vibrations reverberating through the Twittersphere.
"I will be there with brass knobs on," Andrew Steele, one of England's 400m runners, tweeted.
He added: "I've been training my ass off for this."
Greg Rutherford, the British long jump record holder, also rallied to the call. "I shall be going," he tweeted on his account.
He added: "I have things to win." (ANI)
